Coaching Staff

Ben joined the Pirates as the First Grade Forwards Coach in 2025. Rutherford brings significant high-performance credentials to the role, having previously held coaching positions at Shute Shield clubs including Sydney Uni, Randwick and Easts, alongside experience with the Australian Rugby Union Academy in his role as General Manager. Ben's promotion to First Grade Head Coach reflects the club’s confidence in his strong leadership attributes and technical acumen to drive improved First Grade results.

Jack Debreczeni is a product of West Harbour's own Colts program who has gone on to build a remarkable professional career, earning 104 Super Rugby caps across the Melbourne Rebels, Chiefs, Brumbies, and NSW Waratahs, as well as representing the Barbarians, First Nations and Pasifika XVs, and playing professionally in Japan. He continues a distinguished lineage of West Harbour fly-halves who have progressed to the elite level, following in the footsteps of Stephen James and Dan Parks. Now returning to the club as Head of Colts, Jack brings elite playing and coaching experience — including his role as attack coach for the Waratahs in Super Rugby AU — to strengthen the Pirate Pathway and guide the next generation of West Harbour talent from Colts through to First Grade and beyond.
