Inaugural Canada Bay Rugby Sevens

Saturday 3rd February, 2018

St Lukes Park, Concord

West Harbour Rugby Union Football club are organising the inaugural Canada Bay Rugby Sevens Tournament on Saturday 3rd February at St Lukes Park North, Crane St Concord.

Eight clubs are participating in the tournament for the honour of winning this inaugural event, which is being sponsored by the Canada Bay Club, and supported by Canada Bay Council.

West Harbour Head Coach, and Tournament Director for the day, comments: “We are delighted to be holding this event. Rugby Sevens is growing in popularity in Australia and around the world ― the full house at Allianz Stadium last weekend for the Sydney Sevens is testimony to that. And the fact that both the Aussie men and the women their respective tournaments will be a great boost for the game here in Australia”.

The Canada Bay Sevens is for men only this year, but according to recently elected West Harbour Club President, Siobhan Seiuli, the club is hopeful of expanding the tournament in future years to include women. “West Harbour has an established Sevens program for both men and women, backed up by a strong Girls program in Wests Juniors Rugby Club.   We are excited to be running our own Sevens tournament, and anticipate that the Canada Bay Sevens will become an established event in the NSW Sevens calendar”.

The tournament starts at 10.00am and finishes with the winner’s presentation at 5.00pm.
